This photo represents my aesthetic interpretation of how cold it was in Chicago. Being the die hard Southern Californians G. Ray and I are wimps about cold weather. The temperature might have gotten to 20 degree fahrenheit when we were in Chicago. Fortunately for us, Karen Brown picked us up at the Hilton, which is at the airport and accessible by underground tunnel, so we only had to make a dash from the airport door to the valet parked car and from the car to the restaurant--the car was parked directly in front of the restaurant. Perhaps a better communication of how cold it was in Chicago is illustrated by the photograph below, despite the fact that it is a much less successful image esthetically [Amy, forgive me for not capturing proper illumination on the foreground figure (G. Ray). We were in a hurry to catch our flight, and I couldn't figure out how to get the camera to force the flash].

Mikie!
